Before you apply for housing, have the following items ready
-
Housing options you want.
Examples:
Suite or Community-style room?
Co-Ed or Single Gender Hall? Limited Visitation?
- If you are interested in a Living Learning community, get a copy
of its special requirements.
Examples:
ConneXtions,
COOL Community, Outdoor Pursuits Community, Sophomore Overdrive, SWOOSH
Community.
- Your EKU Student ID number (can be found in Admissions Acceptance Letter)
- If requesting a specific roommate, both you and your roommate must:
- put each other's EKU student ID number on the application, along with matching
hall and Living Learning preferences.
- provide a $100 check or money order for a housing deposit during
the same calendar month.
- A printer to print out the remittance form at the end of the
application process.
Then print out these application steps:
- Open your web browser to www.ekudirect.eku.edu (or go to www.eku.edu and
click on EKUDirect and then Login).
- Enter your EKU Student ID number in the User ID box and your Personal Identification
Number (PIN) in the PIN box.
Memorize your student
ID, since you will need it to do just about anything at EKU! Your initial PIN
is your birth date in the numeric form of MMDDYY. For example, a birthday of
February 3, 1989 would be entered as 020389. Your PIN number is your password
to enter EKUDirect.
- Click on the “Login” button or press the Enter key to log in.
- The next screen will read: “Your PIN has expired. Please change
it now.” Type your 6-digit birthdate in the “Re-enter Old
PIN,” box and then enter a new 6-digit number as your password
in the “New
PIN” box. MEMORIZE your new PIN, since you
will need it every time you log in to EKU Direct. You will need your
Student ID and PIN anytime you want to access your EKUDirect information.
Do not give these numbers to anyone, or they will be able to access
and modify your personal information!
- Type your new PIN in the middle and bottom boxes and click Login or press
the Enter key. The top, middle, and bottom boxes are all required, so do not
leave any of them blank.
- You will be asked to “Select a Security Question.”
Place your cursor on the arrow next to the box listing security questions
and hold down your right mouse button for a drop-down list of security
questions. Pick a question by highlighting it with your mouse
movement. When you let go of the right mouse button, the question you
chose will display in the box. NOTE: To keep your information safe,
select a question for which only you know the answer.
- In the next box, “Answer to Security Question,” type in
the answer to your security question. NOTE: The answer to your security
question should have a one-word answer, such as “Leon,” or
“enchiladas.” Please note that the answer is case sensitive,
which means you must remember capital and lowercase letters. The answer
to your security question will have to be typed in PRECISELY the same
way each time.
- Click on the “Next” button to read the “Terms of Usage” and
click on the “Accept”
box once you have read them. If you click on “Don’t
Agree,”
you will be logged out.
- You should now be logged into the system. Click on “Student
Services and Financial Aid," and then on "Housing" at the bottom of the
page, and then on "Incoming New Student Apply for Housing."
- Follow the instructions to complete your housing
application.
