Freshmen Only Communities
ConneXtions First-Year Residence Halls
ConneXtions is a co-ed, freshman residential living-learning environment
that encourages students to connect with their peers, faculty and staff
through participation in various activities. It offers a series of
programs designed to help students successfully transition to EKU.
A Community within the ConneXtions residence halls is C.O.O.L.
C.O.O.L. - Community Outreach Opportunities League Community
As part of the ConneXtions program C.O.O.L. will provide students the
opportunity to organize and participate in community service projects.
Service projects are for both the campus and the surrounding community.
Academic and Major Related Learning Communities
Business and Technology
These floors are dedicated to Business and Technology students. Social
and academic events are catered specifically to the needs and interests
of students enrolled in Business and Technology classes. Programming
focuses on teambuilding, leadership skills, and professional development
all in the context of fun.
College of Justice and Safety (NEW!)
Theses floors are dedicated to males and females majoring in the College of Justice and Safety. Students can look forward to making friends with others in their college through social and teambuilding activities, study groups, guest speakers, and professional development programs planned in relation to their interests and classes.
Education
The Education floor will be comprised of female Education majors interested
in finding connections with their peers. Focus will include faculty interaction,
volunteer opportunities with local youth, study groups, arts and craft
nights and fun group activities!
Health Sciences Floor
The Health Sciences Floor will consist of females in any of the Health
Science fields. Members of the Health Sciences Floor can look forward
to programs and opportunities focused on topics in the Health Science
areas including study groups, faculty interaction and social opportunities.
Honors Housing
This community serves students enrolled in the EKU Honors Program. Residents
will live close to peers making it easier to form study and discussion
groups, enjoy social activities and spend time with faculty and staff
outside of the classroom.
WILL (Women Involved in Living and Learning) (NEW!)
WILL is a community to explore women and gender issues, offering a minor and certificate in Women and Gender Studies by providing courses, programs, events, mentoring and scholarships to raise awareness and advance gender equity. Special Interest Learning Communities
Next Steps Residence Hall
The Next Steps Residence Hall is for Sophomore, Junior and Senior students.
The Next Steps programming series focuses on the next steps of your
college career including internship, graduate school, and career exploration,
as well as offereing programs to support personal and academic growth.
Outdoor Pursuits Community
The Outdoor Pursuits community is focused on outdoor recreation activities
such as hiking, camping, fishing, rock climbing and other activities.
Residents will also learn more about outdoor recreation and planning
outdoor trips.
Sophomore Overdrive
The Sophomore Overdrive community is dedicated to providing a living
environment to help with the transition specific to the sophomore year.
To be a part of this community, students must have completed thirty
college credits or two academic semesters.
S.W.O.O.S.H. - Students Working Out On Staying Healthy Community
S.W.O.O.S.H. is a health and wellness community for students who enjoy
sports, working out, a healthy lifestyle, or intramural sports. This
floor is dedicated to organizing competitive on campus sports teams
and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
W.I.T.T. - Women's Interests of Today & Tomorrow Community
As part of this community, female residents will have the opportunity to develop
a network of friends, sharpen their leadership skills and visit with female
faculty. Residents will explore and celebrate issues unique to women.
Still More Special Living Communities
Academic Year Hall
The Academic Year Residence Hall is for students who have a need or desire
to remain on campus throughout the academic year, including the Thanksgiving,
Winter, and Spring break periods.
ROTC - Reserve Officer Training Corps Community
The ROTC Community is reserved for individuals who are participants in
the ROTC program while enrolled at EKU
Greek Floors
Many of the Greek Sororities and Fraternities have floors designated
for their members in the residence halls.
All residence halls are air conditioned, have basic cable tv service
and internet access. Each room is furnished with two twin beds, two desks,
two dressers,
window blinds, one micro-refrigerator and one phone jack. Students
must furnish their own touch tone phone. |
